Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas.
Priecīgus Ziemas Svētkus visiem.
We did our Christmas on the 24th because of work schedules and other commitments. Erik and Melissa had to work the 24th, Katy had to work the 25th starting in the afternoon. In addition to our family, two friends of the kids stopped by to join in the festivities. Had a wonderful meal, opened presents, then had dessert. Not that the meal was bad, but the desserts were homemade, from scratch - an Apple Pie and a German Chocolate Cake.
Katy was the official present hander-outer again this year. A shot of her and the Christmas tree.
For those wondering about the shorts, it was near 70º most of the day. By 7:00 PM it had dropped to 62º. While cooking the roast on the grill I was doing some other chores in a short sleeved T-shirt. We got to see a bit (actually, a LOT) of snow when the family was in Chicago at the beginning of December.
Katy did a good job of making sure that everyone had a turn opening presents. Joey and William - two friends - are doing their main gifting with family later on today so didn't receive as many as the rest of us this evening, but there was something for everyone. Here's Katy opening one of her presents.
The hat was courtesy of William - it was just a loaner.
Going up the list to the next oldest, Erik.
Then Melissa.
And here's Shirley (Mom).
And, last of the Sprennes, me holding one of two matching jumbo sized glasses. Suitable for beer or a really nice chocolate malt.
Joey and William surprised Joe with a sword. It was tough to get it away from him to take a look. Katy's opening another present.
Joe when he first unveiled the sword. It makes a very satisfying sound as it is withdrawn from the sheath. That's William in the background looking on.
Sarah receiving on of her presents.
And Sarah with Erik looking on.
Melissa with her present - she picked it out, Mom bought it for her. We're expecting her to be able to read the next sentence sometime next year. Būs liels darbs viņai iemācīties svešu valodu. Ask her next year. That's Joey in the background. Now you've seen all of those with us for the evening.
Shirley one last time.
I'll end with a Christmas Tree. The picture was taken nine and a half years ago on my visit to Latvia. Since I've already wished you a Merry Christmas, I hope everyone has a Happy New Year.
