You might not recognize the name of this one, but it’s undeniably
everyone’s favorite!
1 16 oz. cream cheese
1 c. butter, softened
2 c. flour
Blend in a bowl with a pastry blender until dough forms together. Roll
out like pie crust on a lightly floured surface. Cut into 2x2 inch squares. Put a dab of filling in the middle of the square.
Take up two opposite corners and pull over the filling like a blanket. Bake on a shortening and floured cookie sheet at 350
degrees for 20 min. Do not let burn.
Filling for cookies:
Mom likes to get hers at Heini’s in Sugar Creek. They have all kinds
of fillings in large plastic tubes and very reasonably priced. Pick your favorite from among apricot, raspberry, blackberry,
strawberry and cheery. You can also freeze any filling you don’t use.
You can also use the walnut and poppyseed fillings described in the Walnut
Strudel recipe!
