I'm involved with several writers' groups.

Since 2000, I've been a member of Lake Writers (a division of the Smith Mountain Arts Council). In 2005 and again in 2006, I was entries' coordinator for the Lake Writers Essay Contest for Young People. Lake Writers meets from 10 AM until noon on the second and fourth Fridays of each month at the Moneta-Smith Mountain Lake Library in Moneta, Virginia. Most of us are retirees, but anyone interested in writing is welcome to join us. Jim Morrison is our group leader.

Many of us in Lake Writers have produced books.

Sally Roseveare's Smith Mountain Lake murder mystery, Secrets at Spawning Run, is available from Infinity Publishing and from the author. It's also available at the General Store in Hardy, White House Store in Huddleston, Givens Books in Lynchburg, and other shops in the Smith Mountain Lake area. If you live at Smith Mountain Lake, this is a must-read mystery!

Sally workshopped her book through the Lake Writers' group, and I am pleased to have had a hand in providing editorial assistance.

Nancy R. Fitzgerald has published three books: Also Present, Postcards From the Dock, and More Postcards from the Dock.

Also Present: Stories of an American Family is a family genealogy book that "reflects both a universal and particular characteristic of one family's journey that runs through the history of a Europe torn by religious and imperial wars to the settlement, birth, and growth of the United States. . . ."

Postcards From the Dock and More Postcards from the Dock are collections of Fitzgerald's "Out of Bounds" columns that originally appeared in the Smith Mountain Eagle.

All her books are available from Infinity Publishing, amazon.com, bn.com, and from her.
