To celebrate the 250th year of the city of Taneytown Maryland. I have been honored as one of the people to represent
the local craftsmen and also the American Bladesmith Society , The Knifemakers Guild and The Italian Knifemakers Guild of
which I am a member of all three by placing this knife into a sealed time capsule that will be opened in the summer of the
year 2104. Along with the knife will be a short history of the American Bladesmith Society , the Amercian Knifemakers Guild
and the Italian Knifemakers Guild and some information about myself and wife as local citizens of this area. Only the Lord
himself knows what the next hundred years will bring to this world and in the world of custom forged blades, but there will
be at least one example of a forged handmade blade to hopefully survive into the next century anyway. For me it has given
me pause to consider the possibilities of how life will change as even now the computer is taking over more and more of the
making of things we use every day. To me the world of 2104 is mind boggling. Hopefully there will still be some craftsmen
left that make fine forged cutley. This knife has a damascus blade with ladder pattern and liners and bolsters with fiddleback
maple scales with silver wire inlay. None of us will probably be here to see this knife see the light of day in 2104, but
I can't help but think what those there that day will think of this steel with this pattern in it.
